We have received many compliments on the lovely trees we have in the High Street each year at Christmas. Perhaps what people are not aware of is that these are chosen in June from Longleat. The 4,500 acres of forest are managed by Rodney Garton, the Head Forester, who has been at Longleat since 1973. Rodney has helped us to chose trees for many years now and I am sure everyone will agree the choices have been great. Wootton Bassett’s new Mayor is Councillor Mayor Champion, who has been a Wootton Bassett Councillor for 3 years, and her Consort is Mr Bert Davey. Mary will be raising funds for Wootton Bassett’s Age Concern, which, along with other services, provides support such as the invaluable Respite Care Scheme and Assisted Shopping Scheme.
