The Town Crier

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Crier & Swordbearer, Owen Collier has held the position of Deputy Town Crier and the full position of Town Crier since 2000 on a voluntary basis. He accompanies the Mayor on many ceremonial occasions.

The public can see the Town Crier on the High Street on Wednesdays and Saturdays, come rain or shine to promote the Charter Market on Wednesdays, Town Museum, local community groups and businesses.

He is an Honorary Member of RWB Chamber of Commerce and currently is the Chairman of the The Ancient & Honorable Guild of Town Criers and competes in Town Crier competions across the County.

The bi-annual Town Crier Competition will be held on Saturday 22nd September 2018, starting 10.30am by the Town Hall.
 
 

Here are some of the events that Owen has attended this year.

 

CONGRATULATIONS ALL ROUND TO OUR TOWN CRIER 'OWEN COLLIER'

This Weekend Owen came 2nd place on Friday in Salcombe, Devon, 2nd place in the Armada cup and 3rd place on Sunday in Kingsbridge, Devon for Town Crier competitions.
This Weekend was particularly special as Friday's cup was Owen's 100TH CUP OR TROPHY WON on Behalf of Royal Wootton Bassett.
